Mike Singletary

Pro Football Hall of Famer, Chicago Bear Legend, Author

After a stellar high school career, he was offered a scholarship to play football at Baylor University under legendary Coach Grant Teaff. After earning All-America honors in both his junior and senior years at Baylor, and twice winning the Davey O’Brien Award, he was a second-round draft pick of the Chicago Bears in the 1981 NFL Draft. Known for his work ethic and intensity, he was an All-Rookie selection and went on to start 172 games for the Bears during his 12-year career.

Selected to play in a team record 10 Pro Bowls, he was All-Pro eight times, and All-NFC every year from 1983 until 1991. The NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 1985 and 1988, he was the cornerstone of the Bears’ innovative 46-defense that allowed fewer than 11 points per game in 1985, as the team posted an impressive 15-1 record, including a 46-10 defeat of the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XX.

His numerous honors include the NFLPA Alan Page Community Award, Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award, Bart Starr Award, NFL All-All Decade Team, and the Walter Camp Man of the Year. In 1998 Mike was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility.

Mike retired from the NFL in 1992 and later went back to coach in the league from 2003 – 2013, and in 2016. Since 1992, Mike has also worked as a consultant and motivational speaker for top Fortune 500 companies. Through his foundation, Changing Our Perspective, Mike is working to bridge the gap in our country by helping underserved communities gain access to affordable health and mental wellness, education, and career opportunities, as well as healthy food availability.
