Drew Pearson – The Original #88

Pro Football Hall of Fame Legendary Dallas Cowboy and Small Business Owner

Known around the NFL as “Mr. Clutch,” Drew Pearson rose from a free agent to being recognized as one of the All-Time Favorite NFL Receivers and a member of the coveted Dallas Cowboy Ring of Honor.  He was named to the 1970’s NFL Hall of Fame’s All-Decade Team, named to the NFL All-Pro team three times and played in Super Bowls X, XII and XIII. Drew is a proud member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2021.

The 6’-0”, 185-pound receiver went from an unknown rookie free agent to the Cowboys’ go-to receiver. Pearson, who was also a part-time quarterback at the University of Tulsa, made numerous game-winning catches in his time with the Cowboys. The Staubach-Pearson combo not only helped defeat many teams during the 1970s but also was an important fixture in turning the Cowboys into one of the most popular sports teams around.

Drew played an important role in the Dallas Cowboys success during the 70’s and early 80’s. Who can forget Drew’s game-winning “Hail Mary” touchdown catch in the 1975 playoffs against Minnesota? Or the touchdown pass that won the Thanksgiving game in the final minutes against the Washington Redskins? And then in the 1980 playoffs, the Cowboys were trailing Atlanta 27-16 when Danny White and the Cowboys rallied for the win, thanks to a pair of touchdown passes to Drew Pearson. Since his retirement in 1983, Drew has done extensive work as a radio and television sports broadcaster and is a much sought-after speaker for corporate programs.  He has also built and sold a successful business, the Drew Pearson Companies, which manufactures licensed headwear for professional ball teams, Walt Disney, and other entities. He was named to the 1970’s NFL Hall of Fame’s All-Decade Team. He played in Super Bowls X, XII and XIII and is a proud member of the Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor and the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2021.
