Project Description
Doyin Richards
Mental Health and Equity in Today’s America
Doyin (pronounced “doe-ween”) Richards is a highly-respected consultant, TEDx speaker, keynote speaker, and workshop facilitator who inspires people to be open about mental health/mental illness and embrace equity in the workplace and beyond. Not only that, but he is open with his own mental health struggles as he survived a suicide attempt a few years ago. Doyin now dedicates his life to ensuring no one experiences the pain he did by providing tangible, actionable solutions that bring results for his clients all over America. Proctor & Gamble, the LEGO corporation, The New York Times, Amgen, Freddie Mac, Workhuman, and Michigan State University are a few of the companies he has worked with.
Mainstream media values his message as he’s often called on to make appearances for NPR and HLN, and has been interviewed by the TODAY Show, ABC News, Essence Magazine, Cosmopolitan, USA Today, CNN, Parents Magazine, Yahoo!, Sunrise Australia, and more.
His message isn’t just for adults. Doyin is a best-selling author of three picture books for children published by Feiwel & Friends (an imprint of mega-publisher Macmillan). His latest picture book YOU MATTER TO ME is told through the perspective of his puppy Biscuit as he watches Doyin navigate through his a neighborhood where nobody looks like him. WATCH ME tells an inspirational personal story of what it’s like to immigrate to America from a 3rd world country while overcoming racism and other intense obstacles. WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE? tackles the tough topic of introducing kids to positive race-relations without raising them to be “colorblind.” All three of the books were #1 new releases in their categories on Amazon.
Through his books, recent TEDx Talk, keynote speeches, media appearances, and his critically-acclaimed workshops, Doyin regularly demonstrates that he is a leader in the fields of mental health, equity, and healthy masculinity. When Doyin isn’t working you will find him in some southern California city watching his two daughters play travel basketball.
