Dan Shaffer is not your average speaker. As a money manager, business owner and regular guest contributor on the Fox Business Network, Shaffer brings his opinions and experiences to life with his strong communication skills, dynamic interaction, and entertaining approach to delivering insights to methods and techniques on starting, building and growing a business through personal development and the power of positive thinking.
Shaffer is the author of Profiting in Economic Storms: A Historical Guide to Surviving Depression, Deflation, Hyperinflation, and Market Bubbles published by John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
As an investment advisor and innovator veteran for more than 30 years, Shaffer began his career on the floor of the New York Futures Exchange, starting out as self-employed trader at the age of 21. Throughout his early years, Shaffer was associated with Bear Stearns & Company, Coopers & Lybrand, Hambrecht & Quist and Northwestern Mutual/Robert W. Baird & Company. In 1998, he eventually founded his own firm, Shaffer Asset Management and became recognized in the financial community as a creative, mathematical and systematic researcher for analyzing markets and the psychological behavior behind them. His firm, using mathematical and statistical models, had managed money for its own clients and for Deutsche Bank and Society Generale. Shaffer currently manages money using his proprietary Absolute Investment Strategy model based on years of reseach.
Shaffer earned the certification of Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in 1989, obtained the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designation in 1992 from the American College. In 1986, Shaffer received his Masters of Science Degree in Accounting from New York University and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Speech Communications from Syracuse University in 1982.
During his time with Northwestern Mutual/Robert W. Baird & Company, Shaffer was the recipient of multiple sales awards and trained salespeople. With thought-provoking ideas and a dynamic delivery style, Shaffer shares his unique, passionate outlook on goal planning, expectations and record keeping, to support individuals and organizations on how to systematically quantify their peak potential.
